Scott has been a resident of Aspen for 38 years. Originally from South Carolina, he moved to Aspen for a summer and never left. During his first ten years, he worked with Dick Butera while running the Aspen Club and then became President of the Aspen Club Family of Companies. The company grew to include the Hotel Jerome, Aspen Club Lodge, Aspen Club Property Management, Aspen Club Travel and Aspen Club Real Estate Company. At its height, the company was the second largest employer in Aspen, employing 450 people.
After the sale of the hotels and property management company, Scott moved into real estate and development full time. Scott joined Aspen Associates Realty as an owner, now Christie’s International Real Estate Aspen Snowmass, shortly after its establishment. He has maintained his real estate practice while also doing residential development of single-family homes and duplexes. He specializes in the upper market of Aspen and has sold over 120 million in residential real estate. Scott sold the Peaks House for $19.750 million in 1997, which was a state record for a single-family home until it resold in 2003. Scott has been involved in at least half of the highest homes sales on record in Aspen.
